Vada Creative Studio
vada creative studio was founded by Andrew Colin Beck and Debra Lowe in 2010 under the name mindcloud media. It's goal was to rid the world of ugliness, boringness, and visual mediocrity. If design is eye candy, you could them the visual willy-wonkas. mindcloud media took on the identity of vada in July of 2010 - the name mindcloud (used since high school) seemed to not expand as far as Andrew and Debra's imaginations could go.

What is Vada? What does it mean?
They chose the word VADA because deep down it is a nonsense word. It means whatever your mind wants it to mean. It is happiness and explosions and hearts and imaginary friends. Wikipedia gives us a few ideas - Vada is an Indian food . . . no . . . it is an automotive association . . . no . . . It's a hindu community development center . . . um . . .

The closest thing I have found to making sense is this: A friend told me it means "GO" in some other language ( i think it was italian). Wether that is true or not . . . I like it. Vada is the word that embodies that feeling you get when you see something you wish you had created. Vada is the elation you feel when you hear a piece of music that tells your heart exactly what it needs to hear. Vada is creativity. Vada is an idea.

What does Vada Creative Studio do?
A brief list:
1. Websites
2. Logos
3. Flyers
4. Posters
5. T-shirts
5.5. Illustrations
6. Music spots
6.5. Brochures/ pamphlets
7. Animated Videos
8. Video commercials
9. Web Advertisements
10. Business Cards
11. Greeting Cards
12. Other things that the imagination can cook up

Vada Creative Studio is pro and helping you formulate sound, solid and attractive advertising solutions - then at helping you create them, and bring them into existence - then at helping you implement them. The studio is experienced at marketing, branding, usability and technology.

How can they be contacted?

Christmas Cards are here again

Printing Christmas cards has become priority number one over in Vada Creative Studio world. We have designed and printed some wonderful cards this year and learned a lot about how expensive it is to print on nice paper.

Most of our clients chose the Rudolph the Red nosed T-rex card. It was very popular with the children of our clientele families.

The asterisk trend "****"

Have you noticed how recently the asterisk has become a huge sensation sweeping the logo/ design world? What makes this little mark so fashionable at the time being?
Google research recently showed me that an original star has gone out of date and is no longer in vouge. Logos of recent past (starbucks, walmart) prominently featured a 5 poin
ted star as a main component. I believe the asterick is a derivative of this star fixation, but is the progressive web 2.0, 21rst century version. After all, when you push the button on a phone with an asterisk on it, it is call the "star key". Walmart is the most obvious article of evidence to site. Their old logo was a traditional 5 point star - in 2008 they changed their look to include an asterisk in place it's place.

But this still doesn't solve the mistery of why it is so prominent. The asterisk is quite visually pleasing, with it's equal sides and visually expanding nature. * - it also appears to be a star at a small size, which means it can grab attention fairly easily.

The most fascinating part of this asterisk mystery is how the meaning of the actual symbol has changed. An asterisk was originally intended to show where a piece of information has a linked piece of information else where on a page. The dictionary defines it as: "a small starlike symbol used in writing and printing as a reference mark to indicate omission, doubtful matter, etc. This meaning has been completely shed, as the the starlike form has come to mean, LOOK AT ME! Or in reality, nothing at all.

How long will the trend last? Will we give in to it? Stay tuned

Meal Choices . . .

Oh the choices for the logo of meal choices . . . which one should we choose? Sandy's kitchen hired us to revamp their "
other" site. An exciting re haul ahead. (In the conceptual stages).

Green is deffinetly the main color - it is on the original site and it acurately portrays healthy and organic
foods (PLUS it is my favorite color). Not sure what to use as the ICON of this company. But We will continue to work on it.

Business continues to run awesomely. We are currently working for multiple clients on new, fun and exciting projects!

This is the original site . . . and we will make it somthing to be proud of.

I LOVE PRINITNG STUFF

There is an amazing difference when your designs come out of the metal confines of the imaginary world of 1s and 0s in your computer's hardware and graduates into full RGB 11X17 printed GLORY! This week we have been printing and implementing lots of our ideas and dreams into tangible reality. Normally VADA has done purely web work and it is fun to see our work in the real world!

This month we printed our brand new business cards. They are the coolest thing in the world . . . because they are floating text! THEY ARE TRANSPARENT! BOOOM! yes! This is a long time dream for us that has been realized!
After that we printed decorations for the BYU chinese flagship tutorial labs. They were a fun concept to see come into reality. This involved:
1. Scissors
2. Rubber cement
3. exacto knifes
4. foam board
5. Adhesive putty
6. glue stick
7. time
The end result is an inviting lab for all the attendants!

After that . . . we printed some posters for the SIGMA EPSILON guys and got to see them in real life too!

Designing for BDS

It was great to create a brand for BDS. They needed a color scheme and a logo and a look and a lot of stuff.

We chose brown for their main color because it was rich, earthy and tied into the color scheme of their parent site (mygurusystem.com). Bright blue represents power and business, to me. The bright blue and Chocolate brown sensation is
one of my very favorites.

Recently I have been trying to stray away from doing so many initial logos; like if your company is called "Tony's Truck Land", it's logo would be like a big TTL, etc. I have been trying to stay away from those because they are just so common, but BDS just screamed out at me - "HEY! DO THE INITIALS!" so I had to obey the voices in my mind. The stack of papers represents the point of the business, which is to duplicate what you have already made, and make it work for you. I strove to find a simple way to represent the word "duplicate".

My favorite aspect, however is the plus signs. That type of simple cross symbol really draws the eye, and the electric blue helps out as well. The symbol is a plus sign, representing duplication (addition) of your work. The plus sign signifies the ability to make a copy of somthing as if you were living inside of some software.

SANDY'S KITCHEN WEBSITE COMPLETE!

Finally our creation is alive! Go and check it out at http://www.sandyskitchen.net
give us feed back by letting us know what you think. You can write on our facebook wall or email us at info@vadastudio.com

This was a great project because it involved giving an existing brand and website a facelift . . . wait no more like TOTAL BODY RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY. Starting from the ground up we wanted to give Sandy's Kitchen a friendly personal feel, that was not too stuffy and corporate. We wanted to walk the line between homey & approachable but professional and high end. We accomplished this by using a softer color palate, that was mild to digest and easy to look at - but very vibrant and fun.

It was wonderful to give this site to Sandy and her Catering business, because her food and her services are awesome, and her old website was not really portraying that. Her new website, in our opinion, more accurately represents how professional she really is!

On this project we collaborated with a new friend. A photographer named Meredith Rodgers did most of the shots in the site. Her photography added a vibrance and life to the pages. We look forward to working with her more in the future. Her photography is SWEET!

More to come from VADA creative studio. Stay updated.

TO DO LIFE

The best problem I can have as a designer is to have too much to do! That is about 300% better than having not enough to do!

This month of september, our studio has been swamped (in the most positive sense possible) with exciting and new projects to do! We are currently pumping out:
1. Sandy's Kitchen's Catering Site
2. Animated banner for LendingWebsites.com
3. Website for Awkward Robot Design
4. Concept for Play Theory Web and Branding
5. Add campaign for BYU Chinese Flagship Program
6. Music for Traveling Books
7. Branding for Business Duplicator
8. Web and Branding for Chance Carter "The Last Desperado"
9. Poster for Sigma Phi Delta
10. Shapes Places and Spaces art installation
11. Racica Branding and Web design

Anyways I am sure that the list goes on! But it is exciting to have so much to do! VADA forever!

COUTRY SINGER HIRES VADA

A few months ago I was down in Moab doing a half marathon with my family. We were staying with some old family friends, the Carters. I met, or I should say was reacquainted with thier grandson, CHANCE CARTER.

Since I had seen him last (we were kids) he had become an acoustic country artist. He has a rich deep sound - very johnny cash like and is very talented. So I gave him my card and now, a while later he called us up and wants a full website and image. Keep a keen eye out for Chance's new website in September! VADAPOWER!

MUSE VISUAL ARTS - WEBFOLIO

Muse hired us to create an attractive FLASH based way to show off their attractive portfolio, and to show some case studies of their work.

It was great to be in their studio and learn some tricks of the trade from industry buff Ed Alvarez (Provo Craft, NewWays). He is a professional photographer and Designer from Chile.

This is the second time Muse has called on us to help them out with our FLASH expertise. Flash, although threatened from different sides is currently the major webfolio medium on the net. CS5 shows that Adobe has no plans of stopping their web dominating power-run.

Stay tuned for our upcoming FLASH website.

WORK FOR HIRE

VADA has been blessed with two.5 substantial jobs recently. One is creating some FLASH powered portfolio stuff for MUSE visual arts. It has been fun to be in their studio and learn from them. Secondly, we have been blessed to become friends with Sandy's kitchen in SLC Utah. They are a catering company - mostly bridal stuff, some corporate. Recently they signed us up to do some print promo stuff for them and today we have a meeting with them to see if we can make their website.

The website is coming a long great! It is in stage 1 right now - the LOOK and some of the function is coming along. I am liking it. This is a snapshot of its current progress.

NEW BLOGGER BLOG!

I always almost type blogstop.com . . . weird. Welcome to the inagural blog post of VADA. What is VADA? VADA is the balance between imaginary and real. VADA is the calm that happens right before an explosion. VADA is power and magical color.

Our new website is coming. It is on it' way!
